There’s going to be an awesome art opening at New Image Art in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 28th! Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Claire Rojas, and ‘Lydia Fong’ (wink, wink)!!!! There’s also going to be a musical performance by Peggy Honeywell and a comedy act by Andrew Jeffrey Wright. This event is going to get crowded so do like I do and get there early!
I am soooo glad it’s Friday! Tonight I’m going to ride my bike to the ICY LYTES VIDEO PREMIERE AND FUN’RAISER in Los Angeles. These guys are one of my favorite new groups and they put on an amazing live performance. The video above is the ‘teaser’ trailer for their new music video. Come out and party with us!
Here’s some behind the scenes pictures of Filipa Da Silva and myself setting up our window installation in Beachworks at The Shoppes at Chino Hills.
First we gathered and combined our collections of vintage and thrift store frames. We laid them out on the floor and mapped out the composition. Then we printed out some of our collaborative paintings and drawings, that we had scanned, and paired them up with the perfect frame. We also did new original pieces and mixed them in with the prints. Once we agreed on the layout the hard work began – cutting, prying, stapling, measuring, repairing, and cleaning the frames and artwork took some time. We finally finished and brought all our frames over to Beachworks and hung them with wire.
This past Saturday, The Shoppes at Chino Hills held a very special event which included fashion, original artwork, and appearance from Project Runway finalist Jerrell Scott. Element Eden artists Filipa Da Silva and myself (Aaron Martinez) created a special Beachworks window installation to showcase during the event. I was there all day, drawing in the booth and having fun making small 5×7 drawings for the shoppers.
Jerrell Scott also put together a mini fashion show from retailers in the area, but picked the Element Pursuit sweater as his favorite piece of the day! He called model Andrea’s outfit worn by “a girl in the know.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
Maker sure to stop by the Chino Hills Beachworks to take a look at our window installation, it’ll be hanging throughout the month of March. Special thanks to Amber Wierenga from Beachworks, and Jardine Hammond from Element Eden, for organizing the event.
