Corner book marks are sooooo in right now, lol, totally, right?…but seriously, an easy recycled craft that makes for one amazing thoughtful gift!

Green Tip!! Clip off the corner off old birthday card envelopes, paper grocery bags (or my favorite, fold your own from last month’s fashion mag), then decorate to your hearts content with old buttons or beads and thread (all things we often have laying around)… a unique page holder that’s a classy step up from the norm and 100% recycled, love it!

Came across this amazing DIY craft from Cupcakes and Cashmere, that just reached out and grabbed us!… So “Edenesque” in our minds if you will, looks like something for the next craft night to be hung right in the office!

Can’t wait to get to Good Will and find the perfect old jar and a piece of worn wood… Big thanks to Cupcakes and Cashmere for the inspiration!

Green Tip!!!

Thanks to the people over at Learn Something New.com, we came across a green tip inspired by the late Michael Jackson! Just goes to show you, almost anything can be recycled and refashioned into glitz and glam… keep getting creative with those thrift store finds and make them your own, then join the Element Eden family on our Facebook page and upload your photos to share some inspiration!!

Reworking jewelry is a personal fave of ours, adding charms, feathers and beads then changing to a longer chain length to make an old necklace piece unique to one’s personal style.. try it yourself!

DIY: salute your shorts

i’m super excited to be guest blogging all week, with my friends over at element eden!

start with:

(x1) pair of element eden limelight shorts or element eden trulie shorts

(x3) paint pens- i recommend (x2) white and (x2) red

(x1) x-acto knife & pencil & ruler

(x1) piece of hard posterboard for stencil (i used the hangtag from the shorts)

begin by practicing with your white paint pen, on the inside of your shorts, so you can get used to how the pen works.  once you are ready, prepare your stencil for your shorts.  my star is 1.25″ at the widest point.  cut out star with x-acto knife, and place on shorts.  use stencil to draw the outline of your shorts.  remove stencil, and fill in star with paint pen.  place next star approx 2″ away from next star.  if you end at a seam, draw a small part of the next star, to continue the pattern repeat.  once you are ready with your stripes, begin on the far left seam, using the seam as a ruler.  my red stripes are 1/2″ wide, and approx 3/4″ apart.  continue stripes up to waistband, and on coin pocket, but not on waistband.

The girls over at FOAM Magazine are busy finding some of the best fashion DIY projects around.  Try out this latest project with Eden’s Conscious By Nature Leeds knit… the horizontal black and white stripes play well as a shirt scarf, and what could be more sustainable than turning a 100% organic shirt into a 100% organic scarf when your finished?!
