The holidays are in full-swing here at the Element office, and today marked our First Annual Ele’mint’ Bake Off! 11 Element employees (including one crafty dude!) channeled their inner-Martha Stewart to try and stuff and sweeten their way to First Prize. For $1, us non-bakers could stack a plate full of sugary-goodies and cast our vote for who we thought should win it all – and as you can see from the pictures, there was quite a spread to choose from!
From Snickerdoodles, Element-logo cupcakes, carrot cake, and chocolate torte there was something for every sweet tooth to enjoy, but in the end it was a plate of good old fashioned chocolate chip cookies that won the staff over. Our winning gal took home $37 (cold hard cash!), bragging rights, and the coolest trophy I’ve ever seen – Mr. Gingerbread Man in a Pan will be passed around for many Bake Off’s to come.
Thanks everyone, for the sugar high! Now it’s time for a nap…

FAR OUT SIDE art show at Board of Directors Gallery in Toronto, Canada wrapped up recently and by all accounts it was super successful. the Gallery was packed with good people, tasty wine and most of all, inspired, lovely art. Artists Julia Deakin, Christopher Martin, Celeste tooGood, Norman Yeung, Juno Youn and Myself all contributed four to five pieces. All artists showing had an incredible style and vision and I think the work came together beautifully in the space. Above are the pieces I had on show that night. Thanks to Brianne Wells for curating and to everyone that came out to show love.

Listening to Make Love, it’s easy to tell band mates Julia Reeser and Quetzal Aguilar are hopeless romantics – you don’t even have to listen to the music to conclude that there is a love of love involved. One glance at the band’s name and you can tell that these tracks are inspired by the very idea of romance itself. Blend poetic lyrics, the lead singer’s unique, casual, upbeat tone and the harmonic melodies of music and you have a delightful, new EP from this up-and-coming duo from Encinitas, California.
Charming songs about falling in love and staying there will get your toe a-tapping. Whether it be a fortuitous love story about a whimsical lass and a sailor, or a great rendition of the ultimate love song, “Tonight You Belong to Me”, (made popular by the ultimate romantic, Navin R. Johnson) this five track EP, will add a little delight to your day.
Listen to the EP on Myspace here.
