COUTURE COMEDY

20 December 2009

JZ

Jonathan Zawada is hands down my favorite Australian artist and he has done it again with his take on Couture Comedy.

It started with Jonathan’s blog FASHEMATICS, A mathematical breakdown of couture fashion that will leave you in stitches!

To celebrate the 50th Fashematics equation, Jonathan Zawada has illustrated a rad new ‘zine featuring soulless robots and brainless zombies in our favorite runway looks of spring.

You will find enviable garments of Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Bernard Willhelm adorned unstoppable robots about to take over the future and a horde of relentless rotting corpses.

With a limited edition of 200 signed and numbered copies, it’s a must have collectable item.

JUSTIS’ Try’n to live

18 December 2009

Check Justis’ of DoRight Records first video  Try’n to Live, directed by Photographer/ Music video director Sammy Rawal of Revolver Films. Both Justis and Sammy are major Canadian talents and I’m lucky to consider both good friends.Sammy was looking for a Keith Haring/ 80’s hip hop vibe for the video and ask me to be illustrator .  I happily obliged. Sammy is also one half of our creative team TOP CINQ. So keep eyes and ears open for future collaborations.

Trophy

The holidays are in full-swing here at the Element office, and today marked our First Annual Ele’mint’ Bake Off! 11 Element employees (including one crafty dude!) channeled their inner-Martha Stewart to try and stuff and sweeten their way to First Prize. For $1, us non-bakers could stack a plate full of sugary-goodies and cast our vote for who we thought should win it all – and as you can see from the pictures, there was quite a spread to choose from!

From Snickerdoodles, Element-logo cupcakes, carrot cake, and chocolate torte there was something for every sweet tooth to enjoy, but in the end it was a plate of good old fashioned chocolate chip cookies that won the staff over. Our winning gal took home $37 (cold hard cash!), bragging rights, and the coolest trophy I’ve ever seen – Mr. Gingerbread Man in a Pan will be passed around for many Bake Off’s to come.

Thanks everyone, for the sugar high! Now it’s time for a nap…
