we have been visiting our local markets a lot on our weekends… the farmers markets, vintage markets, swap meets….the whole lot..we LOVE them

one of our favourite weekend outfits from our current collection is our “Lake Side Dress” - floaty, breezy, super comfy

we can imagine pairing this with a fresh bunch of flowers, some vintage style sunglasses, and our cute “Owly Coin Purse”

Element Eden presents ‘Subconscious’ by Loretta Lizzio

We have been very excited about this event!

We are very proud to present a series of new works by our beautiful Eden Advocate, Loretta Lizzio

Gold Coast based artist Loretta Lizzio is having her second solo exhibition ‘Subconscious’ on December 7th 2012.

‘Subconscious’ tells a story of the yearning for thrills, adventure and romance that we can only dream of.

These desires are also tangled with fear and dread, rough ocean seas, old ships, and handsome tattooed men. A collection of delicate wooden pieces with mixed media and laser etching, this show promises to be one not to disappoint! With her obsessive line work, desirable female creatures, and longing for the ocean depths, you will be taken into another realm.

Although it’s obvious her developed style and true love is working with pen and pencil she is always striving to exceed her own creative boundaries. Loretta has also worked in tattooing, design, printmaking, installations and painting.
‘Subconscious’ by Loretta Lizzio, Escape reality if only for a moment… set your desires free.

‘Subconscious’ runs from 7th December 2012 – 7th January 2013.

DIY : Mini envelopes

they have a bevy of ideas and fun tutorials to keep you entertained!

one of our favourites for the lead up to Christmas:

READY

1. Choose an envelope you already have that you like the size and shape of

2. Soak it in a bowl of water (lukewarm is probably best) for about one minute, or until the glue releases from the paper easily. It will not take as long as you think!

3. Pat the now unfolded envelope dry – it doesn’t have to be completely dry, just not drippy – and trace it onto a thin piece of cardboard – chipboard works well, as would something like a cereal box. Try to be accurate at this stage and trace neatly.

4. Cut the template out with a pair of scissors, and you may want to label it so that in the future you (or whoever you live with) won’t say “what is this strange piece of cardboard?” and toss it out!

5. Use your new wonderful template to trace out an envelope design on any and all types of paper! Think gift wrap, maps, magazines, old calenders, stamped cardstock – you name it! I like to trace using pencil on the side that will be the inside so the marks won’t show.

6. Carefully cut out your envelope with scissors and fold it up – I like to do the sides first, then use the folded sides as a guide on where to fold the top and bottom. Use the handle of your scissors or a bone folder for really crisp edges.

7. Use a glue tape roller to stick your envelope together, or glue stick but I find glue stick gets brittle after just a few months, go ahead and get a glue tape roller, they’re like $5 and you can find them in the adhesive section of an office supply store or craft store.

8. Ta-da! Admire your finished work!

So we are are featuring our “love heart tanker” this week on the blog…and it seems to fit quite nicely into a “This & That” post…

perfect beach weather calls for hours and hours on the sand – so we found our favourite beach side necessities:

DIY: Drink Umbrellas

one of our all time favourite blogs:

is a never ending fountain of inspiration, when it comes to DIY tutorials…so here is their super fun DIY on fringed party drink umbrellas…

You will need:

large drink umbrellas
scissors
tissue paper
double stick tape

its super simple… fringing strips, attached with double sided tape, to those cute cocktail umbrellas

Keep your tissue paper folded and cut 1/2 to 3/4 inch strips off the end. Cut tiny fringe off one side of the strips. Open your umbrella and cover each rib with double stick tape that covers the length. At each edge, add extra strips of tape as needed. Starting at the bottom, wrap fringe around edge spiraling towards the center of the umbrella. Add new strips of fringe as needed. Once you have covered the entire top of the umbrella, fluff the fringe with your finger.

how awesome are they!!! great for a summer fiesta this weekend!!
